FINAL DAY IN HONG KONG

I decided to spend my last day in Hong Kong at Ocean Park. Ocean Park is an amusement park for all ages, kind of like a mix between Sea World and Disney World.  It isn’t as large as American amusement parks, but for being in Hong Kong is was huge.

The main reason I wanted to go to this park was to see the giant pandas. They have been my favorite animal since 1st grade! This picture is from outside their exhibit. On the inside was a glass wall.  The crowds were very loud, so the pandas didn’t like to be in the outdoor portion of their exhibit. I walked through the area in the morning and in the afternoon, and both times the pandas were in a little area indoors, with video cameras so the public could still observe them.

There was a restaurant that was completely panda themed. They had so many options of traditional Chinese dishes. They also had an entire shopping area devoted to the giant panda exhibit. It was clear that Ocean Park was extremely proud to have giant pandas at their park.

I really enjoyed the show that Ocean Park offered to its guests. That day is was about 107 degrees farenheit. Hong Kong is also extremely humid. Being from Wisconsin, I didn’t do too well in that weather, so I enjoyed finding cool ways to take a break and sit in the shade.

The water show was fantastic and included seals and dolphins. Throughout the park there are different sections of animals such as: marine, Amazon, Asian, South America, and polar animals.

It is very evident that Hong Kong is making efforts to reduce their pollution and amount of trash. While at the museum at the harbor there were many exhibits teaching tourists how to save the environment. At the Ocean Park Water Show the storyline that the narrator uses focuses on the importance of not littering in the ocean.

I really enjoyed walking around the entire park. I love that in Hong Kong almost anywhere you are you can always see the mountains. It’s a lovely reminder of nature amongst all the bustling city buildings.

I am truly going to miss the charming city of Hong Kong! I am so glad that I decided to take on this city all by myself, I’ve made so many great memories. But for now… off to mainland!
